Erick Newman II

Title: Associate Director – Competition

Erick Newman II returned to the Big 12 Conference in 2023 and will serve as the Associate Director – Competition.  He previously worked at the Conference from 2018 – 2021.  Prior to his second stint at the Big 12, Newman worked at the University of Oklahoma as the Assistant Director of Administrative Operations and Special Assistant to the Vice President and Director of Athletics.  He had oversight of the day-to-day operations for the Vice President and Director of Athletics while serving as a liaison for the athletic department and managing all executive administrative operations.  
 
The Chicago native also managed all aspects of stadium and game operations for the Chicago Cubs and the United Center.   He also worked for the College Football Playoff and was responsible for the planning, implementation, and administration of stadium and game operations for the 2018 CFP National Championship.
 
Newman is a former football student-athlete at Bemidji State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sport Management and a minor in Business Administration. He earned his master’s degree in Adult and Higher Education with an emphasis in Intercollegiate Athletics Administration from the University of Oklahoma. While studying at OU, he worked in SoonerVision and Event and Game Operations for the athletics department.
